“It’s All About Jesus!”
Jesus at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-15)
Crowds of sick people—blind, lame, or paralyzed—lay on the porches. One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” – John 5:3-6 (NLT)

“The Star of the Show”
Have you ever seen or been to a major concert event or performance where someone from the audience gets pulled onstage? Have you ever BEEN that person? There is an overwhelming sense of honor. Their excitement level is off the chart. There is a sea of people there—any of whom would give ANYTHING to be that one on stage. You feel valued. You feel special. You feel SEEN. YOU get to be the star of the show.
That’s the man in our passage today. Yes, he has big problems. Yes, he’s a regular at the pool. But there are CROWDS of people who are there. In many ways, he’s just another face, just another beggar, just another hurting person who wants to be healed. But Jesus saw him. Jesus picked him. Jesus came to him.
Don’t miss this. As you go to church this morning, you are not just another face in the crowd. As you bow your head to pray, you are not just another voice among the millions around the world calling out to God. You may think your need is not as important, but God thinks YOU are important. You may feel as if you are not worthy of the time and attention of God, and you’re right. But none of us are. He’s the one who gives us worth. You may feel today as if you are invisible to the people around you and that no one sees, cares, or understands. You may even be feeling so unwanted, unworthy, or depressed that you’re trying to make sure that people DON’T SEE how you feel.
But God sees you. He sees YOU. He sees where you are and what you’re going through. He knows exactly how you feel. You may feel alone in that crowd today. But you’re not. Out of all the people in the room, all the people in the world, God has His eye on YOU. God sees you. God has picked you. God is coming to you. So, take His Hand and step up onto His stage of love and healing. Today YOU are the star of His show. That’s God’s Word for you today.
