I have a friend who posted on Facebook that Valentine’s Day was her favorite holiday. She asked people to share some of their most precious Valentine’s gifts. One woman posted that in 1991, her husband was half a world away in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. There was no place to buy anything to send her. So he sent her two dozen paper roses he had cut off water bottles. He wanted to let her know that even in the middle of a war, his love was still with her. Now, many years later, that’s the gift she most remembers. It wasn’t elaborate. It wasn’t fancy. It wasn’t expensive. But it was passionate and relentless. Despite all the obstacles, his love found a way to her. No wonder it still moves her.
Passionate and relentless. God loves you like that. Do you know that? He loved you enough to go to war for you. He left the comfort of Heaven and came to the wasteland of Earth. He endured pain, hardship, and suffering. He could have stopped it, but He didn’t. He could have given up, but He didn’t. “God so loved that He gave…” And He’s never stopped giving.
He loved you when you ignored Him. He loved you when you rejected Him. He loved you when you chose other lovers. His love did not stop and WILL not stop until it finds its way to you. He’s reaching out to show it to you in a thousand different ways. So open your eyes and open your heart today. Ask God to show you all the beautiful expressions of His great love that are all around you. Because no matter where you are in the world, He will find a way to send that love to YOU! That’s God’s Word for you today.
