Powerful Words from the Prophets
“The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.” – Isaiah 9:2 (NLT)

“Relentlessly Hopeful”
My wife said she once had a client describe her as “relentlessly hopeful.” What a wonderful way to be known. She was described that way because, as a therapist, Wanda believes that with hard work and God’s help, people can change. People can find healing. Marriages and relationships can find reconciliation. People can overcome fears and break free from addictions. No matter how dark it may seem, Wanda believes there is always hope. Do YOU believe that?
Our verse today tells us that God is relentlessly hopeful as well. As He speaks through Isaiah, He lets them know that no matter how dark it may become, light is on the way. Hope is on the way. As the song reminds us, that hope has a name—and His name is Jesus. That’s why Jesus declared, “I am the Light of the World.” To those whose lives had become lost in the darkness of sin, Jesus came as their hope of salvation. To those whose lives had been clouded in a dense fog of grief, He came as their hope of comfort. To those who found themselves helpless in the shadow of insurmountable circumstances, Jesus came as their hope of deliverance. That’s why Peter described Him as our “Living Hope.” And He is YOUR Living Hope as well!
I don’t know what darkness you may find yourself in, but I believe with all my heart that there is always hope. Can I be “relentlessly hopeful” for you today?
“Father, I lift up to you today my friends who find themselves in dark places. Some are in need of healing. Some are in need of deliverance. Some need a fresh wind of encouragement. Some are in need of your strong arms of comfort and peace. Some are in need of your divine guidance. Draw near to them, Lord. Let them sense the power of your Presence. Step into their darkness with the Light of your Glory. As they lay themselves in your Holy Hands today, fill them to overflowing with the essence of who you are. Living Hope. In your precious name we pray, amen.” That’s God’s Word for you today.
