Powerful Words from the Prophets
In that day the people will proclaim, “This is our God! We trusted in him, and he saved us! This is the LORD, in whom we trusted. Let us rejoice in the salvation he brings!” – Isaiah 25:9 (NLT)

“Living in That Day”
Faith is often difficult for us to have. It’s difficult because faith is believing in advance that which will only make sense looking back. Faith looks beyond this moment. It sees past this circumstance. Faith clings to an assurance that God is able to get us to the other side of whatever it is we’re up against. In other words, faith is future-oriented. Doubt and fear focus on the “now.” And the more you allow yourself to become consumed by the “now,” the more overwhelmed you become.
I want you to notice the phrase that Isaiah uses in our passage today. “In that day.” Isaiah doesn’t deny the mess the people are in now. He doesn’t minimize their troubles or the struggles that lie in front of them. He doesn’t wink at their failure or call it “no big deal.” In fact, he’s already taken a good bit of time explaining just what a mess they’ve made of things. But he doesn’t leave them there, because God never leaves US there. He points them to what’s ahead. He points them toward deliverance. He points them toward God’s grace and mercy. He points them toward the salvation that God promises to all who call upon His Name. It is a declaration of faith in the face of their fears.
Let that be YOUR declaration of faith today. I don’t know what you’re up against or how difficult your circumstances might be. But I do know this: God is BIGGER! I’m not going to minimize your trouble or the pain that you may be going through, but I do want to remind you that God is our Healer and Comforter. I’m not going to try to convince you that the next few days or weeks or months are going to be easy. But I am going to tell you that God will not only walk with you through it, He is already on the other side of it all waiting for you!
Declare with me right now, “In that day.” Now add your own statement of faith at the end of it. “In that day…I will be healed!” “In that day…I will be whole!” “In that day…I will be free!” “In that day…God will deliver me from this mess!” Faith clings to the future when today is filled with trouble. Don’t let “now” steal your joy and hope. Live “in that day.” That’s God’s Word for you today.
