Powerful Words from the Prophets
"Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this." – Isaiah 9:7 (NLT)
“We Win!!”

“We Win!!”
People who know me know that I’m a huge OKC Thunder fan. And as a heart person, I’m passionate about how I cheer for them. Having played basketball only fuels that emotional response. When they make a great pass or hit a tough shot, I cheer, high-five, and applaud with appreciation. But when they make a bad pass or take a bad shot or do something dumb, I yell, “What are you doing?!” and get frustrated and angry. What’s crazy is that I do that even when I watch a game where I know the outcome.
Since I record every game on my DVR, I saved the final game from last year when they won the NBA championship. I’ve watched it at least 3 or 4 times now—even though I was AT the game when they won it! But I still can’t seem to watch with detached emotions. I still allow my emotions to get excited or depressed, even though I’ve seen the end of the game. WE WIN!
Do you ever do that with God? Do you ever allow yourself to get down when it looks like evil is gaining ground? Do you ever allow yourself to feel depressed when the bad guys get ahead? Do you ever throw up your hands and say out loud, “What is this world coming to?!” You know the answer to that question, don’t you?
Take another look at our verse today. Look at this prophecy about the coming Christ and what His Rule would be like. “Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.” Isaiah is reminding us before Christ ever came that we wouldn’t have to worry about the Enemy. We don’t have to fret when people say, “God is dead.” We don’t have to lose our minds that the news and the internet are filled with hate and injustice.
What Isaiah and the rest of the prophets told us is what John confirmed in Revelation. Our God reigns! Jesus overcame death and the grave! Evil will be judged, and the righteous will live forever! We KNOW who The Champion is! We KNOW what the outcome will be. Don’t let your emotions get caught up in the noise that our Adversary causes or the threat he makes. The zeal of the Lord has made us a promise we proclaim. WE WIN!! That’s God’s Word for you today.
