This verse hit me like a ton of bricks today. God can save us. He’s the Only One who can save us! The sad thing is that some of us don’t even know we NEED saving. But we do. We desperately do. Let’s get honest. Some of our lives are a MESS. We’ve been running hard, living our lives the way that we want to live them, and now we’ve come to the end of ourselves. We’ve thrown away so much that is precious to us, and we can’t get it back. Our hearts are cold, our minds confused, and our souls are dark with guilt and shame. But you know what? God can save us. He can forgive our sins, warm our hearts, and give light to our souls. Our past may be bleak, but God’s Grace is great. He still saves sinners. Sinners like you and me.
Some of us need God to save our homes. We have marriages where we barely speak to each other. We’re raising kids whom we have no idea how to talk to. We keep telling ourselves that it’s going to get better, but it never does. It’s time to hit our knees and admit the truth. We need God to save our homes. We need God to make us the men, the husbands, and the fathers we need to be. We need God to make us the women, the wives, and the mothers we need to be. Before we become one more statistic of a broken home, it’s time to cry out to God and surrender our home to Him. God still saves. He saves homes just like yours and mine.
Some of us need God to save us from our addiction. Though some of us have never said this out loud yet, we’re hooked. We’re hooked on heroin, meth, and prescription pills. We’re addicted to alcohol, to tobacco, to pornography, to gambling, or to adrenaline. We’re addicted to food. We’re slowly killing ourselves, and we keep telling ourselves we’re going to stop. But we don’t. Many of us are “functional addicts,” so we’ve got a lot of people fooled. But God’s not fooled. Neither are the people closest to us, whose respect we’re losing. But it doesn’t have to be that way. God still saves. God still breaks the chains of addictions and sets the prisoners free. Prisoners like you and me. It’s such a powerful statement that David makes. “Our God is a God who saves.” Cry out to Him today with whatever your need is. God can save YOU! That’s God’s Word for you today.
