“Walking Through the Psalms”
“The LORD is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid?” – Psalm 27:1 (NLT)
“Fear Is a Thief”
“The LORD is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid?” – Psalm 27:1 (NLT)
“Fear Is a Thief”
Your fear is robbing you. It’s robbing you of your joy. It’s robbing you of your peace. It’s robbing you of your LIFE. Every minute you spend worrying about “what will be” steals the moment you are living in. The same goes for worrying about “what might have been.” Think about that for a second. How many minutes have you forfeited to fear? How many hours? How many days? How much time have you worried away over “what was” or “what might be” that you could have spent enjoying and embracing “what IS?” You let fear steal doting on someone you love. You let fear rob you of laughing with good friends. Or you let fear keep you from doing something amazing and productive. Fear is a horrible thief. It’s stealing your life right out from under you. Or worse. You’re actually helping fear carry out this crime!
Read our verse for today again. Let the words make their way down from your eyes and your brain to your heart. “The Lord is my light and salvation.” You don’t just have “someone” on your side today; you have GOD! The maker of all that is, stands beside you. He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful, and Always with You.
The One who holds this universe together HOLDS YOU! He is FULLY AWARE of what you are walking through. He is FULLY PREPARED for that thing you are dreading. He already has a Plan. He is already making a Way. He is already working IN you and AROUND you. He is BIGGER than what you fear. He is more POWERFUL than what you fear. His resources are GREATER than what you fear. There is NOTHING that can happen to you that He is not ready for. Just as He has worked in those things that are behind you, He will work in those things that are before you.
So ask yourself the question that David asks. “So why should I be afraid?” The answer is, there’s no need to be. Let God be the light that casts away the scary darkness. Remind yourself that regardless of what comes, God holds you in the palm of His Hand. Give God your painful past and give Him your frightening future. Tell that thief Fear that he has no business with you because God’s Perfect Love casts out all fear. Proclaim that he’s stolen his last moment from THIS Child of God! That’s God’s Word for you today.
