“Walking Through the Psalms”
“In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.” – Psalm 18:29 (NLT)
“Yes, You Can!”
“In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.” – Psalm 18:29 (NLT)
“Yes, You Can!”
An interesting observation I’ve made about our faith in God is that many of us believe that God can do anything. Anything that is, except God’s ability to work through US! We say that God can move mountains. But do we believe that God can use us to move those mountains? We say we believe that God can change people’s hearts. But do we believe that God can use us as His Change Agents to help those hearts change?
David reminds us in our verse today that God chooses US as partners in His work here on earth. That means that the things God calls us to aren’t dependent on our strength alone because God is working IN us and THROUGH us. David charged onto the battlefield to face Goliath because he believed that even though he was the one with the sling and stone in his hand, “The battle belongs to the Lord.” Do YOU believe that? If you do, it changes EVERYTHING!
I want you to look in the mirror and say these words out loud. “Yes, you can!” Say them again with conviction. God’s Spirit lives in you. God Himself is with you. So what are you so afraid of? That conversation that you know you need to have that you’ve been putting off? Have it. Sit down with whomever you need to and speak the truth in love. God is your strength, and He will give you wisdom. What the other person does with what you share is not your issue. That’s between them and God. But you can do your part. “Yes, you can!”
That role that God’s been nudging you to take that you’ve been shying away from? Take it. I know you feel insecure. I know you think you’re not adequate to teach or lead or do whatever it is He’s asking. And truthfully, you’re not. But God is. And HE is your strength. Stop making excuses about why you can’t. God is with you. “Yes, you can!”
The most amazing moment in a person’s life is the day they believe that God’s grace is greater than all their sin. The second greatest day in their life is the day they believe that God’s strength is greater than their weakness. Let that day be THIS day for you. Whatever you’re up against, whatever you’re facing, and whatever it is God is asking you to do, you can do it. You can overcome that obstacle. You can break the chains of that fear. God’s Hand is upon you, and His Spirit lives in you. So, look in the mirror again, and proclaim it like you mean it. “Yes, you can!” That’s God’s Word for you today.
