“Wait Expectantly”

Is there anything better than grandkids? I hear a thousand voices saying, “No, there’s not!” (There’s also nothing more expensive or exhausting, but that’s a different story.) I don’t know what it is that gives them the ability to bring such joy to our hearts, but they do. My wife often says that they have me “wrapped around their little fingers.” Guilty as charged. When they come to ask me for something, they give no thought about how expensive what they’re asking for is, nor how inconvenient it may be for me to grant their request. They ask, and then they wait. And they wait EXPECTANTLY.
David says that is how he waits when he brings his requests to God as well. He’s not shy about asking. He doesn’t worry that he might be inconveniencing God. And he’s not concerned that God might not be able to grant his request. He pours out his heart before the Lord, and then he waits. Expectantly.
Is that what YOU do? You can and you should! You should wait expectantly for God to answer because God loves you infinitely more than I love my grandkids. And that’s a LOT! You are the reason God came from heaven to earth. You’re the reason He died on the cross and rose from the grave. You are the apple of His eye and the delight of His heart. God is thrilled at the opportunity to lavish His love upon you.
Your Heavenly Father also has infinitely deeper pockets than this grandfather has. He has infinitely more power than any grandparent on earth. There is nothing He can’t do, and there’s no one He would rather bless than YOU! No, He’s not a Genie in a bottle granting every wish, but He is a caring Father who loves to meet the needs of His Children and bless them beyond what they can ever imagine.
Come before the Lord with anticipation today. Pour out your heart, and don’t hold back as you make your needs known. Stop thinking of God as some stingy, apathetic deity who doesn’t care about you or your life. Think of Him as someone whose eye is upon you, whose ear leans in to hear you, and whose heart is always FOR you. Make your requests known to the Lord today. Then wait EXPECTANTLY. That’s God’s Word for you today.
