“Walking Through the Psalms”
“But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me.” – Psalm 13:5 (NLT)

“But I Trust!”
Oh man, this passage stirred my heart today. David spends the entire psalm talking about all the horrible stuff he is facing and going through. Then comes this powerful, faith-proclaiming declaration. “But I trust…” Let’s “go to church” today and claim it as our own!
“Lord, this week has not gone as I’ve wanted it to go. Work has been horrible, the kids have been on my nerves, and I’m struggling to keep it together. But I trust!” “My body is in pain. I’m tired of all this suffering. I’ve asked for your healing, and yet it still hasn’t come. I don’t know how much more I can take. But I trust!”
“I got hit today with a bill that there’s no way I can pay. It seems like every time I’m about to get even, something else comes up. I feel like I’ll never get out of this hole. But I trust!”
“My marriage is hanging on by a thread. It feels sometimes like there’s just been too many wounds, too many fights, and too many years of dealing with it all. I’m not sure if it can be fixed. But I trust!”
“My grief is sometimes more than I can bear. My heart feels like it will never recover from the loss of this one that I loved so much. It feels like the tears and the sorrow are never going to end. It’s all I can do to get through the day. But I trust!”
“Lord, I’m doing your work, but I’m not sure I’m really making a difference. I try to serve with all my heart, but I have so many doubts about myself. I often wonder if I should just quit and let someone else do this. But I trust!”
Whatever your fear today, whatever your struggle, don’t give up and don’t give in. It may be dark, but light will soon break through. Anyone can believe and hope when all is well. It’s in the pit, the place where there is nowhere to go but to God that the faith of the mighty is truly forged. So plant your flag. Stand your ground. Lift your head and declare today, “But I trust!” That’s God’s Word for you today.
