“Walking Through the Psalms”
“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.” – Psalm 9:1-2 (NLT)
“What’s In a Name?”
“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.” – Psalm 9:1-2 (NLT)
“What’s In a Name?”
God reveals who He is and what He does for us through His Name. That’s why David says, “Those who know your name trust in you.” How many names of God do YOU know? Reflect on these and let them speak to your heart.
Yahweh (Jehovah) – Some believe this name, so holy that it was unspeakable by the Hebrews, stands for God’s eternal nature. The God who “was, is, and is to come.” That means that the God of your past is the God with you now and will be the God of your tomorrow. He’s always been there and will never leave you.
El Roi (The God who sees me) – Spoken by Hagar when she thought she was forsaken. God saw her in her troubles. God sees you today as well.
El Shaddai (The Lord God Almighty) – Used numerous times in Scripture and reminds us that our God is a POWERFUL God! No matter what you’re facing or what you’re up against, our God is greater. NOTHING is impossible for Him!
Jehovah Jireh (The Lord will provide) – The Lord not only sees our need, He will provide for our need. He provided manna, quail, and water in the wilderness. His resources and abilities have no limits. Whatever your need today, God is your Provider!
Jehovah Rapha (The Lord who heals you) – It was God who made you, body, mind, and spirit. He can heal your suffering body. He can heal your broken heart. He can heal your confused mind. He can heal your lost, dark soul. Cry out today for the Healer who can touch YOU today at your point of need!
Jesus – This is the name above every name. This is the name that forgives every sin and heals every disease. This name reminds you that you have a Savior, you have a Guide, and you have a Friend. This name makes demons flee and angels bow. Call upon this name and experience the difference that Jesus can make.
What’s in a name? EVERYTHING. May the name of God become one in which you place your complete trust. He is always there for you. That’s God’s Word for you today.
