“It’s All About Jesus!”
Jesus & the Man Born Blind (John 9)
“His neighbors and others who knew him as a blind beggar asked each other, ‘Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?’ Some said he was, and others said, “No, he just looks like him!” But the beggar kept saying, ‘Yes, I am the same one!’” – John 9:8-9 (NLT)
“Our Transformation Is Our Testimony”
The man who was born blind created quite a stir with his healing. People used to see him stumble around when he walked and sat and begged on the streets to survive. But immediately after washing in the pool of Siloam, he was different. No more stumbling, no more holding onto the arm of another person, and no more begging. His transformation was so dramatic that he didn’t have to say a word. They could SEE something was different. And they wanted to know what had happened.
When I read this today it made me ask a very reflective question. I wonder if anyone can see the difference Christ has made in ME? I know that there’s a difference between a physical healing and a spiritual one, but shouldn’t the change in our hearts that Christ makes be at least somewhat noticeable?
Christ didn’t come to simply forgive our sins and cleanse our souls. He came to change the way we LIVE. He uses words to describe our lives such as “lights” and “salt.” Both of those things are noticeable when present. He came to change the way we treat our families, talk to our neighbors, and handle disagreements. He came to live through us so that we might be more generous, more compassionate, and more kind. He came to transform the way we talk, the way we do business, and the way we treat those who are mean to us. In other words, if Christ truly lives IN us, then He should show THROUGH us. Sadly, I’m afraid that for many of us, that’s not the case.
Sit with this thought today. If you never told anyone you were a Christian, would people see enough of Christ in you that they would know anyway? Does His Character show through? Does His Love show through? Does His Joy, Peace, and Compassion show through? No matter what we say about our faith, our transformation is our testimony. May the world notice that Christ has done a mighty work in us—even if we never say a word. That’s God’s Word for you today.
