“It’s All About Jesus!”
The Story of Lazarus (John 11)
Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.” – John 11:25 (NLT)

“The Resurrection and the Life!”
I want you to camp on this truth today because it’s the most significant truth in the Bible. Not only can “sick” things get better, but “dead” things can live! What Jesus was declaring to Martha wasn’t just about Lazarus. It was about His sovereignty and power over ALL THINGS. Jesus IS the resurrection and the life!
I could take you to a church that was dead and gone. The congregation lost its vision a long time ago and became inwardly focused. Like many churches, they became a “Fortress for the Few,” rather than a force in their community. They got down to less than 20 people in attendance. Then God broke through. They surrendered their church to God and allowed a new vision to arise. Over the next several years, that small, dead congregation became a thriving church of a thousand!
I could introduce you to several couples who would tell you that their marriage was dead and gone. They’d grown apart. They got preoccupied with their careers. They got involved with others. But one day, God broke their hearts. He brought them to their knees and began to do an amazing work in them. God healed. God comforted. God surrounded them with the right people who supported them, gave them relational tools, and bathed them in prayer. And these couples whose marriages were dead sprang to life again to the glory of God!
I can introduce you to dozens of people that I’ve known through the years who were completely “dead” in their sins—drug addicts and alcoholics who were destitute and on the street or locked away in prison. People who lost EVERYTHING. But it’s when we’re at our WORST that God does His BEST! Those people now are not just sober, they’re restored and redeemed. God has turned their failures into a platform for ministry.
Is God a healer? He most certainly is. But He is so much more than that. What you may find “dead” today can live again by the grace and power of our Lord Jesus Christ. Your church, your marriage, your decimated life, and your wayward child. He is the resurrection and the life! That’s God’s Word for you today.
