“It’s All About Jesus!”
Jesus and the Jewish Leaders (John 5:16-47)
So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.” – John 5:19 (NLT)
“Get In Sync”
Jesus and the Jewish Leaders (John 5:16-47)

“Get In Sync”
Have you ever felt out of sync with God? Maybe the times when you are crazy busy and getting pulled in a million directions. You find yourself running from one thing to the next with barely time to breathe in-between. But in the midst of all you’re doing, you feel as if it’s just “you” doing it. You’re not operating with an awareness of God. You’re not thinking with the wisdom of God. And you’re feeling more and more drained because you’re not working out of the strength of God.
Or maybe it’s in those times when you’re in high-stress mode. You’re fixated on a problem. You’re in the middle of a crisis, and you’re so hyped up with adrenaline that you can’t think. Or perhaps fear has gripped your heart, and you’re so worried about what’s going to happen and how it might impact your future that you find that it’s YOU trying to control the future, rather than trusting the one who holds the future.
This morning, on my prayer walk, I found myself praying that I could live as Jesus lived: Fully in tune with the Father. I found myself asking God to help me see with His eyes, hear with His ears, speak with His words, and love with His heart. I’ve had many times in the past where I’ve just run ahead of God and yelled back at Him, asking Him to catch up. Those are the times when I’ve tried to squeeze God into the cracks of my life, rather than allowing my life to flow out of His Presence, His Power, and His Peace. Jesus nailed it in our verse today. “The Son can do nothing by himself.” This son can’t either.
Fight the frantic impulse today that makes you want to go faster and faster. Don’t allow your mind and heart to be consumed by the overwhelming sense of urgency or crisis that you’re experiencing. Your instincts will tell you that you need to react. But you don’t. You need to retreat. The best, most well-spent moments you can have in the crazy times are the moments you step away to get in sync with God. Without Him, you’ll be carried along by your circumstances and depleted when it’s over. With Him, He will carry you through your circumstances and see you safely to the other side. Jesus said that He can do nothing by Himself. Neither can you. Get in sync. That’s God’s Word for you today.
