“It’s All About Jesus!”
“The Woman at the Well”
The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus told her, “I AM the Messiah!” – John 4:25-26 (NLT)

“It’s Jesus”
I find it interesting how most people have this innate sense that there is a God. Maybe that’s what the Ecclesiastes writer meant when he said, “He has planted eternity in the human heart…” (Eccl. 3:11 NLT) Everywhere you go, anywhere in the world, people worship a deity. They don’t know who He is or what He’s like, but something inside tells them He's out there. And most are sure they’ll meet Him one day. They just don’t know it’s Jesus.
It’s the same way here in our country. Spirituality is big. There is a growing awareness and appreciation for the Divine. Go to any recovery meeting, and you’ll hear them all talking about their “higher power.” People know they need help. They know they need guidance. They know they need something or someone supernatural to fix their marriages, overcome their addictions, and find fulfillment in their lives. Sadly, most just don’t know it’s Jesus.
The woman at the well was no different. She believed in God. She believed that there was a Messiah who would come one day. I imagine she thought of Him more as someone to fix the political mess of their country, free them all from Roman oppression, and put all the religious phonies in their place. What she didn’t know was how personal that Messiah would be. Like how He cared about each and every human being—how they lived, how they hurt, and how lost they felt. She never knew that the Messiah was the man she was always looking for deep inside. The One who would love her. The One who would stay with her. The One who would complete her. And she had no idea He was standing right in front of her.
So let me take the mystery out of your search. It’s Jesus. He’s the “higher power” that you need. He’s the One who is your connection to all that is Spiritual and Divine. He is the One your heart is longing for and your life desperately needs. So when you’re lying there at night and wondering if there’s a God and if He has any idea about what you’re going through, the answer to both of those questions is “Yes.” He knows and He cares. You don’t even have to go looking for Him. He has come looking for YOU. It’s Jesus. That’s God’s Word for you today.
