“It’s All About Jesus!”
Jesus & Nicodemus
There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee. After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.” – John 3:1-2 (NLT)

“What’s Your Evidence?”
As I camped on this passage today, there was one word that jumped out at me. “Evidence.” Nicodemus told Jesus that he and others had all seen the “evidence” that God was with Him. He was referring, of course, to the miraculous signs that Jesus had performed. Miracles are a bit of a slippery slope, though. Being attracted to the “magic” can easily lead to the desire for bigger and better “shows” of miracles. For Jesus, miracles were simply a secondary confirmation of His Divinity. He wanted people to believe in who He was and what He could do in them as Savior and Lord, not just what kind of miracles He could perform.
But the thought led me to examine my own journey of faith. What “evidence” draws me to Jesus? Certainly, I’ve had my own miraculous healing, which was a piece of early evidence for my faith. Then there have been the times when I’ve experienced His Presence in profound ways in times of worship and prayer when I’ve been overwhelmed by His Spirit. I can also name time after time when He has answered prayers in extraordinary ways that have left me speechless and in awe. Stuff that still leaves me shaking my head.
As I sat with Jesus for a while today, I realized that there is another piece of evidence that is the biggest reason I seek Him daily. It is because of who He is making me. The biggest miracles that Jesus has performed in my life are the ones that most people can’t see. It’s the inward healing. It’s the attitudinal adjustments. It’s the transformation of my soul. It’s the opening of my blind eyes and helping me to see. It’s the changing of my heart from being arrogant and selfish and helping me to become more grateful and humble and selfless. It’s the miracle of how He has broken the chains of my codependency and addictive personality and helped me to live in a newfound freedom. When I look around, I see the evidence of Jesus. But when I look within, the evidence is overwhelming. What evidence of who Jesus is do YOU see? That’s God’s Word for you today.
