“It’s All About Jesus!”
Jesus & the Wedding in Cana
This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him. After the wedding he went to Capernaum for a few days with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples. – John 2:11-12 (NLT)

“When Did Jesus Reveal His Glory to YOU?”
This is another one of those passages that could easily slip right by you. But don’t let it. Camp on it with me for a bit. John tells us that, “This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory.” Up until now, Jesus’ mother believed in who He was because of the events of His birth. His disciples believed, probably somewhat with reservation, because of His amazing teaching and the insights He had into their lives. His brothers and sisters (at least most of them) most likely didn’t believe in Him at all, at least not as the Messiah. Now Jesus shows them something that they hadn’t seen before. He had POWER. He could do things that no normal man could do. For many of them, though I’m sure they still had many questions, this solidified their faith. Which is probably why He went to Capernaum with them for a few days. They needed to debrief with Him on what just happened.
That made me think back about my own journey of faith and ask the question, “When did my faith move from believing in who Jesus was to believing in what Jesus could do?” The answer for me was when I was fairly young. I suffered from severe ear infections as a child and grew up before putting tubes in the ears was a practice. Finally, the infection in my ears was so bad that the doctor scheduled me for surgery. That was on a Friday. That Sunday night at church, my parents took me forward to be anointed and prayed for. I felt a warmth and calm come over me. The next day I packed my little suitcase and went with my mom to the doctor’s office. He wanted to do one last check for exactly what had to be done before I went to the hospital. He was going to do surgery on me the next day. As he checked my ears, he kept saying, “Hmmm.” It scared my mom to death. She finally said, “Doctor, what’s wrong?” My doctor replied, “That’s the problem, NOTHING is wrong! The infection has completely cleared up! I don’t understand how this could be.” I looked at the doctor and said, “They prayed for me last night at church.” My doctor laughed and said, “Steve, you tell them to keep right on praying because your infection is all gone!”
That was the day Jesus revealed His glory to me. That was the day I knew that God was not just “there,” but that He could do things that can’t be explained. Jesus had always been real to me. But that was the day He became POWERFUL. Have YOU had a time like that? When did Jesus show YOU His glory? Let that moment you had THEN give you faith for what you need NOW. He’s just the same today. That’s God’s Word for you today.
