Don’t you just love Mary’s confidence in Jesus? Most of us would have sulked if Jesus had given us the same response that He gave Mary because it seemed as if He wasn’t interested in getting involved. But instead of getting discouraged or angry, Mary simply proceeds with the certainty that Jesus was going to do SOMETHING, though she had no idea what.
Maybe it was faith that caused Mary to respond to Jesus’ answer the way she did. Or perhaps it was her knowledge of how tender-hearted He was that made her sure that He would act. Or maybe, like many mothers, she knew that Jesus wouldn’t dare NOT grant her request lest she hound Him the rest of His life! Whatever the reason, Mary did the exact right thing that we all must do with God. She put it in His Hands and waited expectantly.
Do YOU need that kind of faith today? Does God have YOU in His Waiting Room? I would invite you to do what Mary did. Spend a few moments answering these questions: Do you believe that God has the POWER to answer your request? Are you convinced that God loves you and is going to act in your best interests? Has He shown Himself enough to you that you can trust His heart, trust His wisdom, and trust His sovereignty? Then give it to Him and wait expectantly. Jesus not only liked to do good things for His mother, He also likes to do good things for YOU! That’s God’s Word for you today.
