“It’s All About Jesus!”
Luke 19:38-48 (The Triumphant Entry)
When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen…But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, “Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!” He replied, “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!” – Luke 19:38-40 (NLT)
“Ain’t Gonna Let No Rock Out-Praise Me!”

“Ain’t Gonna Let No Rock Out-Praise Me!”
A couple of weeks ago, I posted a picture on Facebook of a goose sitting on top of a house. I shared how I was on one of my prayer walks through my neighborhood, and as I thanked and praised God in my prayer, this goose started honking really loud. I laughed and took it as a resounding “Amen!” to my prayers.
I thought about that as I read our passage for today. The people who had heard and seen the miracles Jesus had performed were giving Him their praise that day. They were honoring Him as someone Special, someone Royal, someone Divine. The Pharisees couldn’t handle that. They told Jesus to shut the people up. But I love Jesus’ response. “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!” Some moments are just too special, too holy, and too marvelous for SOMEONE or SOMETHING not to praise! This was God in the flesh, coming to lay down His life for the sins of the world. This was the Perfect One becoming sin so that we who are sinful might be made Perfect. This moment was so spectacular that I promise you the angels in Heaven were on their feet shouting God’s glory. Somebody has to praise or creation itself will begin to honk, “Amen!”
How about YOU? Are YOU praising God today? Have you thought about all that this week means and how life-changing it is? Have you had a moment to remember who you were, where your life could have gone, and how Jesus changed all that? Have you taken a few minutes to consider all the answers to prayer you’ve had, all the blessings you’ve received, and all the love that God has poured out upon you? Let’s stand to our feet this week and join in with the angels in shouting, singing, and proclaiming God’s praise. Don’t let anyone or anything shut you up. Like the old song we used to sing, “Ain’t gonna let no rock out-praise me!” That’s God’s Word for you today.
