“It’s All About Jesus!”
Mark 1:40-45 (Jesus and the Leper)
A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,” he said. – Mark 1:40 (NLT)

“An Uncertain Faith”
One of the mistakes we make with faith is the belief that we “will” things into existence. In other words, if I want to be healed, I just have to really, really believe God is going to do it, and it will happen. The funny thing about it is that way of thinking isn’t really faith in God at all. It’s faith in my ability to believe.
Closely connected to this line of thinking are those who believe that if there is any doubt at all in my mind that I’m going to be healed, I will jinx it, and God won’t do it. Again, the weight is put upon me to be absolutely certain about what I believe God is going to do.
But look at the approach that the leper takes. He comes to Jesus with lots of uncertainty. He’s not uncertain about Jesus’ ABILITY to heal. He’s obviously either heard the stories or seen for himself what Jesus can do. But he is uncertain about whether or not Jesus is going to heal HIM. He recognizes that there are lots of people around the city that Jesus has not healed. He doesn’t know WHY Jesus has healed some and not others, he just knows that’s the way it is. So he comes, confidant in Jesus’ power, but uncertain of where he fits in Jesus’ plans and says, “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” And that uncertain faith was enough.
I want this to set you free. Free from feeling as if you have to come to Jesus with a flawless faith—one that has no questions, has no fears, and has no doubts. You can’t wish or will God into action. You can’t “believe” things into existence. You can, however, come to Christ in humility and confidence. Confident of His power. Confident of His goodness. But uncertain of where you fit into His plans or His will. God doesn’t always heal everyone or give everyone exactly what they ask for. But He is a God who wants you to ask. And He is a God who is amazingly good. So trust His power. Trust His heart. And come to Him today with your uncertain faith. That is enough. That’s God’s Word for you today.
