“It’s All About Jesus!”
Matthew 25:14-30 (The Three Servants)
Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone. – Matthew 25:14 (NLT)

“God Trusts You”
Wow. This verse hit me hard today. God TRUSTS me. God trusts YOU. Let that thought sink in for a second. Jesus sets up this parable by saying that God trusts us to carry on His work until He comes back. What a sacred covenant that is.
We speak often about “trusting God.” We trust Him to forgive us. We trust Him to guide us. We trust Him to protect us. But I’m not sure I’ve ever given much thought to the fact that God trusts us as well. But He does. He trusts us to carry out the Great Commission to make disciples. He trusts us to carry out the ministry of His Church to gather together, worship together, pray together, and grow together. He trusts us to be His Agents of healing and compassion to a hurting world. All that He did while He was here on earth, He now entrusts to us. What an awesome responsibility. And what an amazing opportunity! Jesus gives a lot more details, of course, that we’ll unpack later. But it all begins with trust.
Here’s the thought I want you to sit with today and be in awe about. God BELIEVES in you. As one of His Followers, He has given you a significant role in the future survival of His Kingdom on earth and the impact that it has in this world. God is trusting in your commitment. He is trusting in your cooperation. He is trusting you to take Him as seriously as He is taking you. There’s a lot that hangs in the balance. More, in fact, than most of us can even imagine. We like to let ourselves off the hook and believe that our presence here as Christ-followers is to simply “be good” or not mess up too bad. But Jesus said we now have “the keys to the Kingdom.” That sounds pretty important to me.
Let’s pray. “Lord, make us trustworthy. You are counting on us to carry on your work, to carry out your mission, and to carry forth your love. Help us to see ourselves as you see us—empowered ambassadors as well as beloved children. Thank you for saving us. Thank you for believing in us. And thank you for trusting us with the treasures of your Kingdom. May we bring honor to your Name. Amen.” That’s God’s Word for you today.
