A Word to Every Church of Every Age
“And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.” – Joel 2:28-29 (NIV)
“We Need Pentecost EVERY Day!”

On the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2, God poured out His Holy Spirit upon the disciples. It was a life-changing, world-altering event. The disciples who had all run away in fear when Jesus was arrested were suddenly filled with a boldness they had never known before. Peter, who had been so afraid that he had denied he ever KNEW Jesus, stood up publicly and preached the gospel. The group was so overcome with new zeal and excitement that they all began talking about Jesus. What was CRAZY was that everyone around them heard what they were saying in their own language! And there were multiple languages represented there!! How does THAT happen? Through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Hundreds of years before the Church was born, God knew that we’d need Him like never before. So instead of doing things as He did in the Old Testament, just having His Spirit be upon one person at a time, He made His Spirit available for anyone who became His Child through salvation in Jesus Christ. That was what Joel was prophesying about.
But it was more than just the Day of Pentecost. The disciples would quickly discover that they would need the presence and power of God’s Holy Spirit EVERY DAY. They faced harsh opposition and persecution. They had to deal with a hesitant Jewish nation that still didn’t know how they felt about this man Jesus. They had to prove to Gentiles that Jesus was the One True God that all of mankind was looking for. So God’s Spirit gave them the power to perform miracles of healing, just like Jesus. The Spirit convicted hearts and changed minds as they preached. The Holy Spirit gave them courage when they were threatened and guidance when they didn’t know what to do. The only way the Church survived and thrived was through the power of God’s Holy Spirit.
The same is true for us. WE need the Spirit of God. We need the strength that only He can give. We need the healing that only He can provide. We need His leadership, His power, and His wisdom. And we need it EVERY DAY. “O Lord, give us another Pentecost. Break through in our lives today and remind us of who you are. Let your Spirit fall so mightily upon us that we will be flooded with your presence and your power. Make EVERY DAY a Day of Pentecost as we seek you with all our hearts. In Jesus Name, amen.” That’s God’s Word for you today.
