Walking Through the Psalms
“What can I offer the LORD for all he has done for me?” – Psalm 116:12 (NLT)
“It’s Not Enough”
“What can I offer the LORD for all he has done for me?” – Psalm 116:12 (NLT)
“It’s Not Enough”
“It’s not enough.” This Sunday I will go to church. I will sing songs. I will pray prayers. I will tithe. I will preach a sermon and do my best to convince people that their lives will never be what they can be until they surrender to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. But even after spending all that time and energy, there will be one haunting thought that will remain. “It’s not enough.” Don’t get me wrong. God’s not making me feel guilty. It’s not Him. It’s me. God loves it when His children sing to Him, pray to Him, give to the causes of His Kingdom, and use the gifts He’s given them. It’s just that when I think about all that God has done for me, it just doesn’t seem to be enough.
How do I repay Him for His incredible grace? I have messed up so many times in my life. Yet time and time again, He forgives. How do you repay that? How do I thank Him for all the people He has placed in my life? People who encourage me. People who pray for me. People who are there for me when I need a listening ear, a helping hand, or just a shoulder to cry on. There are so many people whom He has placed along my path. How do I repay Him for them? What can I offer Him for all the times He has touched my life, healed my body, and comforted my broken heart? What can I offer Him for all of the doors He has opened, prayers He has answered, and times He has saved me from myself? How can I ever repay Him for the sacred privilege He has given to be used by Him? I get up every single day to a life I thoroughly love, and it’s all because of Him. How do I say “thank you” for all of this? Can you relate?
This Sunday, let’s do more than sing and pray. Let’s worship! The words may flow through our mouths, but let’s make them spring from our hearts. Let’s let the gifts we give Him and this moment we give Him be the VERY BEST of who we are and what we have. No, we’ll never be able to repay Him for all He’s done for us. No matter what we do, it’ll never be enough for us. So, let’s just do our very best to make Him feel the depth of our love from our forever grateful hearts. Because that’s what He really wants, and our full-hearted devotion will always be enough for Him. That’s God’s Word for you today.
