Walking Through the Psalms
“He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD.” – Psalm 40:3 (NLT)
“Are You Ready for a New Song?”

Several years ago, I got an email from a woman named Michelle who received my devotionals. She thanked me for them and then shared her story with me. At one time, she had been addicted to cocaine and heroin. She ended up doing time in prison because of her addiction. In addition to her chemical dependency, she was emotionally trapped in an abusive relationship. In other words, her life was a mess.
But then she got clean and sober and went to work in an agency that helps families who have incarcerated members or individuals coming out of prison. She also shared that she is out of the abusive relationship she had been in. She is truly FREE. What I loved was the last two lines of her email: “So many people have helped me and continue to help me, and I am proud to say through the love of a wonderful, awesome new man in my life, I am finally happy, healthy, and on my way to being the person I was meant to be. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you, the new man in my life is the love of my life…JESUS CHRIST!!!”
Michelle is a living testimony of our verse for today. She has a new hope for which to live. She has a new freedom that she enjoys. She has a new family to which she belongs. She’s singing a Brand-New Song. Everyone who knows what she’s been through is amazed! Could YOU use a new song?
I want you to know today that what God has done for Michelle, He has done for MILLIONS of others! There is no sin that He can’t forgive. There’s no bondage that He can’t break. There’s no life that He can’t turn around by His Grace and Power. Cry out to Him like Michelle did. Give God full control of your life, and just see what He can do. Let God and His People surround you with Love, Hope, and a New Beginning. You, too, can have a fresh start, a new beginning, and a new family. Aren’t you tired of singing the same old worn-out song of where your life has been? It’s time to put your trust in Jesus Christ. God gave David a New Song. He did the same for Michelle. And I believe He has a Brand-New Song for YOU! That’s God’s Word for you today.
