“Walking Through the Psalms”
“LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.” – Psalm 30:2 (NIV)

“It’s Just a Matter of When”
A few years ago, Paul Wood, from Lodi, California, went to the doctor. For months he had been suffering from excruciating headaches. After tests and CT scans, the doctor told him that he had a tumor in his brain, and it was causing his brain to bleed. Paul was devastated but determined. He shared the news with his friends at Gravity Church who began to pray with him and for him. Paul had a strong faith, and he assured those around him, “No matter what happens to me, I’m going to be okay. I trust God.”
Paul was scheduled for surgery, which would be dangerous and uncertain. But something crazy happened. The day before his surgery the surgeons did one final CT scan to see if the tumor had progressed beyond what they knew. It hadn’t. In fact, the tumor was gone! The tumor, which was clearly there from the previous scans, had simply disappeared. His surgeon, Dr. Richard Yee, said, “Sometimes things happen that we can’t explain.” No kidding, doc. Paul Wood said, “It’s a miracle, and that’s the way God planned it.” I believe Paul is right.
God is a Healer. In fact, healing was one of the prominent ways that Jesus proved Himself as the Son of God. The lame, the blind, the deaf, and even the DEAD were healed by Jesus. People came to Him with many different kinds of illnesses, and Jesus healed them ALL. That means whatever need you have, God can heal it. If you suffer from damaged emotions, a broken heart, or an ailing body, God can heal those, too.
So I want to encourage you to reach out to God today. Go to Him even if you don’t believe it’ll do any good. I don’t think Paul Wood believed God would simply make his tumor disappear. But what he knew is that God LOVED him and even if God let this cancer be terminal, the end would not be “the end.” Healing would be his one way or the other. It was just a matter of WHEN. The same is true for you. So who knows? Maybe today is the day for YOUR miracle. Maybe God will do something for you that will blow your mind. Or maybe God will give you added strength for the journey as you endure. Either way, healing WILL be yours. Trust God. It’s just a matter of WHEN. That’s God’s Word for you today.
