I love the question in our passage today. It reminds me of how personal Jesus is with us and how willing He is to meet us where we are. When the two blind men who heard Jesus was passing by got His attention, Jesus didn’t assume what they wanted from Him. He asked them to tell Him. And then He gave them what they asked for. Don’t you think that question would be a great place to start with every day? Instead of jumping into our day with everything we have to do and getting lost in the avalanche of activity, what would happen if we thought carefully about our day and invited God into where we needed Him most? What might our responses be if we got REALLY honest with God?
“What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I need to be a better man of God. I haven’t represented you well at work. I find myself trying to blend in rather than being who you’ve called me to be. I want you to live and show yourself through me. "
“What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I need you to help me be more loving toward my family. I seem to take out all my stress upon the people I say I love the most. Help me to let go of the pressure I’m putting on myself and be present, kind, and compassionate with my family."
“What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I need your healing. My heart is broken, and I feel lost, desperate, and alone. I need to feel you near to me today. Wrap your arms around me and remind me again that you will never leave me or forsake me."
What DO you want Jesus to do for you today? Let God into the places of your life where you truly need to be touched, helped, or healed. God wants to be involved in the most intimate parts of your life. Will YOU let Him in? That’s God’s Word for you today.
