Walking Through the Psalms
“Jerusalem is where he lives; Mount Zion is his home.” – Psalm 76:2 (NLT)
“Your Heart, His Home”
“Jerusalem is where he lives; Mount Zion is his home.” – Psalm 76:2 (NLT)
“Your Heart, His Home”
God moved. And He moved a lot closer. In our passage today, the Psalmist was referring to the Temple. The people of God would come there to worship Him. It was a Special Place. It was a Holy Place. People would travel from all over to come to God. But then something amazing and wonderful happened. God came to THEM!
Jesus was the walking, talking Presence of God. He came to their villages. He came to their weddings. He came to their parties. He came to their homes. But then, Jesus returned to the Father. That’s when He sent the Holy Spirit. That was the day God moved into our Hearts.
When we open our hearts and lives to God, He takes up residence WITHIN us. We no longer have to go to some special place to find Him. We don’t have to perform any rituals to get His attention. We don’t have to offer any special sacrifices to get Him to hear our prayers. We don’t have to jump through any special hoops, chant any special phrases, or light any special candles. God moved in, so we would never have to go anywhere to find Him. He is Immanuel…God WITH us!
So if you need God today, you don’t have to go anywhere to find Him. Just talk to Him. Shut out the noise that is clamoring all around you and whisper your prayer to the God who lives within your very soul. You don’t have to explain it to Him. He was with you this week when you struggled. He was with you this week when you were so hurt. He was with you this week when all of that chaos happened at work. He was with you when things fell apart at home. He saw it all, heard it all, and experienced it all, just as you did. He understands. Ask Him to simply make His Presence known and fill you with the healing, wisdom, and power you need. Rest in Him today. You don’t have to go searching for God. God came searching for YOU. His new “Holy Hill” has become your Open Heart. Make Him feel at home, won’t you? That’s God’s Word for you today.
