Walking Through the Psalms

“Turning Broken into Beautiful”
Have you ever stood and just looked at the ocean, the mountains, or a sunset, and just MARVELED at God’s creation? Or stood out under a beautiful star-filled sky and tried to fathom how in the world God did it? It’s AMAZING. God’s incredible creative power can take our breath away sometimes. But do you know what else is unbelievable about God? It’s His power to RE-CREATE! God, who took nothing and made something out of it, can also take something that’s torn apart and remake it.
That’s what the psalmist promised here about Jerusalem. The people of God rebelled. They served other gods and walked right out from under the protection and the blessing that God had given them. Then they were captured and enslaved. Their beautiful city of Jerusalem was destroyed. Their temple was ransacked and desecrated. Everything they treasured and held as sacred was totally trashed. All seemed lost. But it only SEEMED that way. Because the same God who can create and bless can redeem and rebuild. It was 70 years later when God brought back the people from exile and began the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the temple. And what God did for His People, He can do for YOU!
What has come apart in your life that needs to be put back together? What has been broken that needs to be fixed? What has been stolen from your life that you need God to restore? The One who created you can re-create you! He can rebuild lives. He can rebuild marriages. He can reclaim what has been taken captive and set it free. If you think God’s creation is beautiful, His re-creations are even MORE beautiful!
There was nothing more beautiful to the father in Luke 15 than the sight of his son taking his first steps of restoration by coming home! There is nothing more exciting than seeing someone who is struggling with addiction and watching God rebuild them in their recovery. There is nothing quite like watching a husband and wife, whose marriage has teetered on the edge of disaster, being reunited as they surrender the rubble of their home to the power of God.
Ask God today to release His rebuilding power into your life. Lay before Him the broken pieces of your heart, your life, your home, your health, your relationships, and your future. Trust the Creator to be your Re-Creator. He can turn nothing into something. He can also turn Broken into Beautiful. That’s God’s Word for you today.
