Walking Through the Psalms
“Let this be recorded for future generations, so that a people not yet born will praise the LORD. Tell them the LORD looked down from his heavenly sanctuary. He looked down to earth from heaven to hear the groans of the prisoners, to release those condemned to die.” – Psalm 102:18-20 (NLT)
“God Looked Down and Saw YOU!”

This passage should make your toes tingle. It was written for YOU! God was thinking about you. He thought about you before you thought about Him. He thought about you before you even knew about Him. He thought about you long before you were born. In fact, He thought of you CENTURIES before you were born. Take a look at the passage again. God asked the psalmist to write this down so YOU would see it. He wanted it recorded and protected so YOU would know this. He SEES you. He HEARS you. He IS THERE for you. God looked down and saw how you would struggle. He saw how life would seek to enslave you. He knew that you would need Him to set you free. So He had it recorded for you to assure you that when you needed Him, He was already there. From everlasting to everlasting, God has loved you.
Those problems you are facing right now? God saw them coming. That bondage that you find yourself in? God saw that coming, too. That day you realized that you were dead in your sins and had absolutely no way to make yourself right? God saw that day centuries ago. So He had someone write it down. And He had me read it and remind you: You’re not alone. You are not forsaken. You are not left to face these things all by yourself. God sent His Son to die for your sins because He knew that you would need a Savior. God sent His Spirit because He knew that you would need a power greater than yourself to overcome. Before you were ever in the mess you find yourself in, God saw it coming and got prepared for it.
He hears your groans. He hears your cries for help. He hears your need for a deliverer, healer, and redeemer. In fact, He heard you before you could even speak. Before you asked, He answered. Reach out to Him today. In whatever mess or whatever struggle you’re dealing with, reach out to Him. No matter what chains you have upon you, or how many may be against you, reach out to Him. He’s already reaching out to YOU! God loved you so much that He looked through time to know just how you would need Him at this very minute. “The Lord looked down from His heavenly sanctuary…” And when He did, He saw YOU. That’s God’s Word for you today.
