Walking Through the Psalms
“I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely.” – Psalm 63:8 (NLT)
“God Will Never Let Go of You!”

“God Will Never Let Go of You!”
In the Spring of 2013, in South Florida, there was a six-year-old boy named Joey Walsh who was really excited. He and his father were going on a canoe trip together at the Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge in Boyton Beach. Being curious, as boys are, Joey walked down by the water for a closer look at things. Suddenly, an alligator jumped up on the shore and grabbed Joey’s arm in its mouth. Joey began to scream. Joey’s father and another man heard Joey and came running. Most people would have grabbed Joey’s arm and tried to pull it out. But Joey’s father knew that action like that could cause the alligator to clamp down even harder.
So the two men began punching and kicking the alligator, ignoring the fear that the reptile might turn on them if it released Joey. Thankfully, the tactic worked. The alligator released Joey’s arm and retreated into the water. They took Joey to the hospital, where, to everyone’s amazement, they discovered only minor injuries. Joey was blessed to have a father who was not only caring and brave; he was wise!
Do you feel as if life is biting down on you right now? Maybe not an alligator attack, but do you find yourself clamped in the jaws of something you can’t get out of? Maybe it’s a financial situation that’s got you locked in its teeth. Maybe it’s an addiction that you can’t seem to break free from. Maybe you’re staring down the throat of depression or anxiety that feels as if it’s about to swallow you whole. What can you do in such desperate moments? You can cling to God.
Cry out to God like Joey cried out to his father. Your Heavenly Father will come running, too! God may not attack the beast that has you the way that you think He should. But don’t worry. Your Father is as Wise as He is Caring and Brave. Hold onto God and let Him do the rest. If you try to attack the beast all by yourself, you may end up making a bad situation worse. Trust your Father. Trust His Power. Trust His Knowledge. Trust those He brings alongside you to help free you from your predicament. But most of all, trust His Love. Cling to Him and this I promise you: He will never let go of YOU! His strong right hand will hold you securely. Cling to Him and you’ll discover that His love for you is more ferocious than any beast you’ll ever face. That’s God’s Word for you today.
