Walking Through the Psalms
“…and heals all my diseases.” – Psalm 103:3 (NLT)

“…and heals all my diseases.” – Psalm 103:3 (NLT)
"God, Our Healer!"
Some time back, I read about a woman named Ashley Hallford who had an amazing story of healing. Thirty-two weeks into her pregnancy with her first child, she noticed a lump on the back of her neck that turned out to be a tumor. By the time they did the surgery to remove it, the tumor had spread. She now had cancer in her brain, both lungs, and her liver. The tumors were inoperable and were multiplying. Her baby was safely born, but the cancer raged on. They tried chemo and radiation, but nothing seemed to slow the cancer down. She was given just days to live.
But when the doctors reached the end of their abilities, God was just getting started. Ashley’s church committed to a 30-day time of fasting and praying for a miracle. And God heard them. When she went in for what the doctors believed would be her last scan before death, she was given incredible news. There was no evidence of the disease present. Ashley’s cancer was in remission. That was in 2008. Since then, Ashley has had scan after scan that have shown no signs of it returning. Not only that, but since that time, she and her husband have had two more children, which the doctors said would be impossible as well. She went from days left to live to years of living life to the fullest. From impossible to have a child to having two more healthy little scamps running around the house. Don’t count God out. He can heal ALL our diseases.
Now, let’s be honest enough to admit that God doesn’t always heal like that. But I do have the faith to believe that He CAN. Do YOU? Not everyone experiences a miracle like Ashley, but I can introduce you to many who have. We don’t get to determine the sovereign acts of God, but as His children, we do get to ask for them!
I invite you today to ask for God’s healing for yourself or someone you know. Maybe, like Ashley, you’re facing a serious, life-threatening illness. If God can heal her, He can heal you. Maybe, like Ashley, you’ve been told you can’t have a child. But I invite you to ask the Giver of Life for a child just the same. Maybe your need is for healing from a mental illness. God can heal the mind as well as the body. Maybe the healing you need is the healing of a broken heart. And yes, God can take care of that, too. Body, mind, emotions, and spirit. God created them all. And God can heal them all. So lay your need before The Healer. Ashley’s doctors told her, “Your tumors are in places where only the hand of God can reach.” And the hand of God did reach them. I’m believing with you today that He will reach YOURS. That’s God’s Word for you today.
