Walking Through the Psalms
“As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.” – Psalm 71:14 (NIV)
“We Are People of Hope!”
“As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.” – Psalm 71:14 (NIV)
“We Are People of Hope!”
Say this verse out loud. Now say it again as a prayer. It doesn’t matter what circumstances you find yourself in. It doesn’t matter what the doctor has just told you. It doesn’t matter what your bank balance is. You can always have hope. That’s why I love this verse so much. We don’t know who the author of this Psalm is. Some believe it’s David. That would make sense. The shepherd boy, who stood on a battlefield and squared off against the giant Goliath, certainly would know a little bit about hope! But whoever it is, they are speaking from experience. They are writing with the heart of one who has been through the fire and found God faithful. They’ve resolved that what goes on AROUND them will not determine what goes on WITHIN them. They will hold onto hope. And so can YOU!
Grab hold of hope today. Hold onto the hope that God SEES you. Not a sparrow falls to the ground without His notice, and you are worth far more than sparrows to Him! Hold onto the hope that God HEARS you. Even if it feels like no one around you hears you, God does. He knows your need before you ask, and He hears your prayer before it even leaves your lips. Hold onto the hope that God can DELIVER you. God giggles when we use the word “impossible.” Jesus reminded us that “All things are possible with God.” Even YOUR situation. He can change what we think is unchangeable. He can restore that which we think is not fixable. He can heal that which we call “terminal.” But even when He doesn’t, we still have hope. We have hope that God will walk with us through it. We have hope that God will give us strength in it. And we have hope that when this life ends, a New Life begins!
So let’s say our verse out loud again. “As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.” Let’s praise God today in the middle of our struggle. Let’s praise God today as we deal with our pain. Let’s praise God today in the face of our overwhelming circumstances. Praise Him because we are not like the rest of the world. We are overcomers. We are walking miracles. We are more than conquerors. We are the People of God. We are people of HOPE! That’s God’s Word for you today.
