Walking Through the Psalms
“Who can be compared with the LORD our God, who is enthroned on high?” – Psalm 113:5 (NLT)
“Jesus and AI”

“Jesus and AI”
I saw a disturbing conversation this morning on the Today Show. They were discussing how AI is impacting faith and spirituality. Obviously, there has been much good that has been developed in the last several years in the way of Bible apps, apps for churches, and how that has made connection with congregations and the Word of God so much more accessible.
But today, they were talking about the development of apps and AI chats that not only gave information, they took on the persona of people from the Bible and answered questions as they believed the characters would. They showed a chat where the person was talking to “Jesus.” As you can imagine, I was horrified by the idea and implications of an AI Jesus. The idea that AI, for all the access to information that it might have, can be a digital replacement for the wisdom, insight, foresight, and spiritual discernment of the Creator of the Universe, is offensive and downright dangerous. Mankind has always created “gods” for themselves. Even in the 21st century.
The psalmist reminds us that no one and nothing compares to our God. He is above all. He is greater than all. No one compares to His understanding. No one compares to His power. And no one compares to His understanding of you and His love for you. No person you’ve ever known or will know compares to Him. And no supercomputer or digital intelligence compares to Him either. While good friends, wise mentors, and digital intelligence can all be wonderful “helps” in our lives, it’s important to keep this fact in mind. There is only ONE God.
Remember that this week, if you need advice or guidance. God knows not only all the choices before you, He knows YOU. He knows who you are, what you need, and which path you should take. He also knows that the logical path is not always the BEST one. Remember, too, that God can give you the strength and endurance you need to follow that path. If you want to know what Jesus thinks, don’t ask AI. Read the gospels and talk directly to Him yourself. He will show Himself to you. He will reveal Himself to you. And He will fill you with His Holy Spirit. Forget AI. Go to I Am. Nothing else compares. That’s God’s Word for you today.
