Walking Through the Psalms
“We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care.” – Psalm 95:7 (NLT)

“God Is Watching Over You”
On July 1, Tracy Anton let her dog out after work as she usually did. When the dog bolted from the yard, Tracy started to chase after it. That was the last thing she remembered. Tracy went into cardiac arrest and collapsed in her yard. She never even remembered hitting the ground. She was 27 weeks pregnant. But Julie, a neighbor and schoolteacher who lived nearby, was looking out her window when Tracy went down. She immediately ran to Tracy, assessed what was going on and began administering CPR. At that same moment, a nurse who was driving by also came to her aid and called 911.
The paramedics arrived, took Tracy to the hospital, and got her stabilized. The next day the doctors delivered little Noah, born 12 weeks early. They took him immediately to the NICU unit. He is expected to remain in the hospital until his original birthdate of September 27. When Tracy woke up, she was overwhelmed with gratitude for caring neighbors and great doctors. She also realized it wasn’t just a neighbor who was watching out for her. She said, “God had His hand in all of this. And you know, it’s not just a miracle. It’s a double miracle, because both me and my baby were both saved.”
Why was her neighbor looking out her window at the exact moment that Tracy went down? Why did it happen to be a neighbor who was trained in CPR? Why did a nurse just happen to be driving by at that same moment? Coincidence? Some might think so. But Tracy believes, and I believe, that there were higher forces at work. Our God is a loving and caring Father. And His watchful eye is always upon us.
Read again the words of the psalmist for today. “We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care.” That’s YOU. That’s me. And that’s Tracy. He sees where you are, and He knows what you need. That near-miss you recently had? That issue that could have been serious that the doctor caught early? That money you received EXACTLY at the time you needed it? It could be luck. It could be chance. Or then again, maybe the watchful eye of God is on us more than we think. Just ask Tracy. That’s God’s Word for you today.
