Walking Through the Psalms
“You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.” – Psalm 86:5 (NIV)
“You’re Never Too Far Gone”
“You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.” – Psalm 86:5 (NIV)
“You’re Never Too Far Gone”
You can call on Him. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done. I know you’re afraid that He won’t accept you. But He will. I know you think you’re too far gone. But you’re not. I know you think that you are the last person in the world that God wants to hear from. But you are wrong. You are actually the FIRST person in the world He wants to hear from. The biggest part of God’s heart is for those who are the furthest away from Him.
God IS forgiving and good. It is His Nature. It is His Character. He doesn’t have to “get over it” before we come to Him. He doesn’t have to let His feelings heal or let His mind stop obsessing about what we’ve done. His mind has been bent toward forgiving us ever since we sinned. And His Heart has never stopped loving us. Not for a second. In fact, while we’ve been running hard the other way, God’s been chasing us to offer His forgiveness! He’s been reaching out in a thousand different ways to show us His love. He’s been shouting to us at the top of His lungs, trying to draw us back. Trying to bring us home. He’s MISSED us!
I think sometimes we lose sight of that part of God. Some of us have had people who gave up on us. Often for good reason. We hurt them, apologized to them, and then turned around and hurt them again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! Some of us have even been met with criticism, condemnation, or rejection by a church or people who call themselves “Christian.” We’ve found that even places of grace have their limits. But not the Author of Grace. His Grace is Endless. His Love is Abounding. Though all walk away, He will not.
So come home. It’s time to stop beating yourself up and telling yourself you deserve every bad thing you’re getting. It’s time to stop running FROM God and start running TO Him. Your sin is not too dark to forgive. Your sins are not too many to forgive. You’ve not been gone too long or gone too far. God is forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call on Him. That includes YOU. That’s God’s Word for today.
