Walking Through the Psalms
“We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds.” – Psalm 75:1 (NIV)
“Tell Me Your Story”

“Tell Me Your Story”
Two different women reminded me a while back of what our most powerful possession is. It’s Our Story. One stopped me after church to thank me for being open about sharing my life and journey of faith. She told me how God used that to touch her and how she has learned to share her journey with others as well. She’s found that her story impacts people and helps them find hope, faith, and encouragement.
The second woman was a friend who messaged me on Facebook. She knew that we have a granddaughter who is autistic, and we were dealing with some major mood swings and behavioral issues as she hit her teen years. It’s been concerning and somewhat frightening. My friend shared some of her journey with an autistic son and the similar challenges they faced with him. She talked about the fears they battled and the despair they sometimes felt. But then she talked about the eventual progress that they made and how wonderful he is doing now. She shared how they learned to lean desperately upon God in their journey and how faithful God was to respond. As she shared about how God had been with them, answered prayer for them, and kept them strong, it gave me Hope. It gave me Joy. It renewed my Faith. HER story spoke into MY story. She’ll never know what a gift it was to me.
The Psalmist reminds us that God is near and that He has done wonderful things for us. And that He has. Can I suggest to you that there are people today who need to hear that story? They need to hear YOUR story. They need to know that you, too, battled cancer and found God faithful. They need to know that your marriage, too, was hanging on by a thread, but God brought restoration. They need to know that you, too, struggle and are overwhelmed at times by life, but you don’t give up, and God keeps you going. They need to know that you, too, made some bad choices and found God’s grace was great. They need to know that God has done wonderful deeds for you. YOUR story can change THEIR story. It’s the most precious and powerful gift you possess. Need hope? Ask someone to share their story. Want to GIVE hope? Share yours! That’s God’s Word for you today.
